The source of the Rhine is in Switzerland. But it can´t be defined precisely. From the Lake Toma in the Swiss canton of Grisons to the North Sea estuary mouth the water is flowing 1320 km. Mainly in Germany. The meaning and history of the Rhine is as complex as the number of regions, cities, villages, people, stories and myths that enliven it.
