Florence
The historic old town was nominated in 1982 by Unesco to World Heritage Site. Next to Rome and Venice, it is the most visited city in Italy. For many people, Florence is considered the most beautiful city in the world. Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo, with many other artists and renowned architect, knew this and they have influenced the city culture decisively. The funds came from the richly-filled coffers of the Medici.
