Today, a hipster is regarded as extravagant, ignorant and social media addicted. He is concerned with scene awareness and today's urban lifestyle. He is wearing nerdy glasses, is riding single speed bicycles, is using Apple products and fat headphones. For a male hipster a full beard is an important stylistic device, although the new hipster culture has nothing more to do with the avant-garde subculture of the mid 20th century. Therefore, today the term is used rather mockingly.
