Onions
The onion has an antibacterial effect and is proven to lower blood pressure, blood lipids and blood glucose. The onion also liquefies the blood and has an anti-asthmatic effect. These characteristics mainly are due to the antioxidant sulfur compounds, also potassium, calcium, magnesium and vitamin C. Used externally, onion juice helps against insect bites, wounds, boils and haematomas. A positive effect against the common cold is discussed controversial.
